The Lady in Blue

She stands surrounded by a pool of water.

The folds of her gown are submerged.

The water and her gown are one.

They are the same midnight blue.

And so the pool is part of the gown.

And within the gown are the stars and moon.

She holds out her pale ivory arms,

inviting you.

But you stand back because you know what she is.

You see her reflection in the pool

and what you see is not a maiden dressed in midnight blue,

but a hag, a witch, Medusa in all her vile glory.

Once you see her for what she is, you are frozen.

And then she takes you.

You are lost in her embrace because you know what she is.

She is more than just Mother and Medusa.

She is you and you are her.

Because you come from her

and in the end it is unto her that you shall return.
